-Dr.Web CureIt! Is ideal for situations where the installation of an antivirus is impossible due to viruses or for some other reason, because it does not require installation, runs under 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems of Microsoft® Windows® and Microsoft® Windows Server® (Starting with Microsoft Windows 2000 and ending with Microsoft Windows 8) and is constantly updated and updated with fresh virus databases, which provides effective protection against viruses and other malicious programs. In addition, Dr.Web CureIt! Automatically determines the language that the operating system uses. If the language of your operating system is not supported, then Dr.Web CureIt! All Dr.Web anti-viruses simultaneously use several methods to detect malicious objects, which allows you to check suspicious files as thoroughly as possible:
• Signature analysis is primarily used. It is performed by analyzing the code of suspicious files for compliance with the signatures of known viruses (the signature is a continuous finite sequence of bytes, necessary and sufficient for virus identification). In this case, the comparison is performed on signature checksums, which allows to significantly reduce the size of records in the virus databases, while preserving the unambiguous correspondence and, therefore, the correctness of detection and treatment of infected files. Dr.Web virus databases are designed in such a way that one type of entry can detect entire classes of threats.
• After the signature analysis is completed, a unique technology called Origins Tracing, which allows you to identify new or modified viruses using known mechanisms for infecting files. For example, this technology protects users of Dr.Web anti-virus solutions against viruses such as the virus-blackmailer Trojan.Encoder.18 (also known as gpcode). In addition, it is the introduction of Origins Tracing ™ that can significantly reduce the number of false positives of the heuristic analyzer.
• The work of the heuristic analyzer is based on certain knowledge (heuristics) about the characteristics of a viral and, conversely, a secure code. Each feature has a certain weight (a number that indicates the severity and reliability of this attribute). Based on the total weight that characterizes each particular file, the heuristic analyzer calculates the probability of infection of the file by an unknown virus. As with any hypothesis testing system under uncertainty, a heuristic analyzer can make mistakes both of the first (missing unknown viruses) and of the second kind (false alarm)
