Interface language: Russian, English and other
Treatment: not required
System requirements:
Windows 7 or later. 32 or 64 bit does not matter.
Description:
Rufus - a small utility helps to format and create bootable USB flash drives (USB keys, memory cards, etc.). Despite its small size, Rufus provides everything you need to create an installation USB media with bootable ISO (Windows, Linux, etc.) or firmware from DOS.
Additional Information:
Features:
Rufus small utility helps to format and create bootable USB flash drives faster than analogs. The home page shows the results of tests, according to which Rufus spends almost three times less time to fill in the "whistle" of the distribution of Slackware, rather than the notorious UNetbootin.
The user can optionally align the partitions on the flash drive (the Add Fixes for Old BIOSes item, which is hidden in the Format Options drop-down menu). If the machine you have is quite old and does not detect a bootable USB drive, try to activate this option - it can help.
Capabilities:
Checking the flash drive for bad blocks (recording data in several passes, from 1 to 4, by default - 2).
As for the creation of "butovye" media, then there are options: MS-DOS / FreeDOS (sewn into the utility itself) or SysLinux (set of bootloaders "penguin" kernel).
Burning ISO boot images
Logging, which is also useful in particularly difficult cases.
The version is portable, it works without installation on the computer.
Notes on DOS support:
If you create a bootable DOS disk and use a non-US keyboard layout, Rufus will try to select the keyboard layout according to the localization of your system. In this case, it is recommended to choose FreeDOS (it is the default), because it supports more keyboard layouts than MS-DOS.
Notes on UEFI / GPT support:
Since version 1.3.2, Rufus supports UEFI / GPT installation media, which means that it will allow you to install Windows 7, Windows 8 or Linux in full UEFI / GPT mode. However, Windows Vista and later versions of Windows require full UEFI / GPT support. Due to the limitations of Windows XP, it limits the creation of bootable disks in UEFI / MBR mode.
Rufus is useful when:
You need to create an installation USB media from the bootable ISOs (Windows, Linux, etc.)
